Friends of St. Patrick

Founded    in    1949    by    businessmen    John    M.    Sullivan    and George Faulkner, the Friends of St. Patrick launched   their   first   Miller   Place   -   Rocky   Point   St.   Patrick’s   Day parade on March 11, 1950.  Since that day, so many aspects of the parade have changed.  The   parade   route,   once   a   rustic   two-lane   road,   is   now   a highly developed four-lane highway.  The   spectators,   once   numbering   in   the   hundreds,   are   now   in the tens of thousands.   Yet   the   original   goal   of   bringing   our   community   together,   as set by the cofounders so many years ago, still remains today.
The   Friends   of   St.   Patrick   welcomes   you   to   our   website   and encourages   you   to   visit   our   History    page   for   a   more   in   depth look   at   the   founders   and   the   rich   history   of   this   organization. In    addition,    there    are    many    resources    available    to    you including    parade    attendee    request    forms ,    cocktail    party invitations   donation   information ,   golf   outing   attendee   and sponsorship forms. To   send   our   organization   an   email   visit   the   Contact   Us    page or check the Membership page to contact a specific member. Come on down to enjoy the festivities in March.

The Friends of St. Patrick are pleased to announce that the 70th annual Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick’s Day Parade is scheduled for Sunday, March 15, 2020 starting at 1:00 p.m. sharp.  It is with great pride and pleasure that the committee has named all former Grand Marshalls to be Grand Marshalls in this year’s parade.  It is expected that a substantial number of former Grand Marshalls, who continue to be community leaders in our area, will accept this honor. In lieu of naming a Queen and her Court, the Friends of St. Patrick have begun a scholarship fund for our local high schools.  This year’s winner of a $1,000.00 scholarship is Alexa Zichinelli, a senior from Miller Place High School.  Alexa wrote an excellent essay on Irish history and lore inspired by her great-great Grandma, Mary Margaret McArdle from County Clare. Alexa will be studying pre-med in college and is an active athlete, musician, tutor and volunteer.  She aspires to become a surgeon and be a part of Doctor With-out Borders. Alexa and the former Grand Marshalls will be honored on our Luck of the Irish Casino night, being held at 7:00 p.m. at the East Wind Long Island in Wading River on Friday, March 6, 2020.  This is our primary fundraiser and has been a huge success over the past few years.  All are invited for food, drink and fun.
